BIRA-IASB SWIFF Plasmasphere Model (SPM)
The 3D dynamic model of the plasmasphere developed by the Solar Wind Division of the Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy calculates the number density and the temperature of the electrons inside and outside the plasmasphere. The model runs once a day using predicted Kp values providing a forecast of these parameters for the following day. Updated animations are expected to appear around 14:30 UTC at latest.
